Here is what you need to know about A Joyful Roar!

A Joyful Roar is all about finding the joy in motherhood. I help moms improve their outlook even when their circumstances don’t change. I encourage moms daily using humor, positive reinforcement and other tried and true tools. I have discovered so much throughout my own journey as a mother, and I want to share it. So many of us are tired, overworked, lonely, discontent, disconnected, stressed out, and struggling to find the joy. I get it. I want to push back against the rise in mom guilt, mom comparison and feelings of constant failure that surround us as mothers. It is possible to remove that negative garbage and replace it with the message that you were made for more.

There is joy here.

The Gillis Family

We have lived in Arkansas, Virgina and Tennessee, and due to my husband’s job and proximity to extended family we have put down roots in Jackson, TN.

Why is it called “A Joyful Roar?”

When I am trying to get out the door with my kids, and I say, “Guys, we are leaving, get your shoes on so we can go,” my children don’t even move. They keep playing with their barbies, legos or video games. If I had older kids, they would probably be texting, watching tv or sleeping. Anyway, after a few minutes go by I say again, “We are leaving soon. Are your shoes on? If not, get them on right now so we can walk out.” My tone is slightly louder but I’m digging deep for patience. They acknowledge me this time, but don’t move. Another few minutes pass, my frustration building as I realize that no one is listening and suddenly I ROAR at them...

“GET YOUR SHOES ON RIGHT NOW OR I AM GOING TO...XYZ”

Can you relate? Well, this is exactly what we do as moms with our joy. Mom life can be draining, exhausting, busy and loud. Everywhere we turn, social media, tv, even conversations with other moms is a reminder of how hard it is. Therefore, we either can’t hear the message of joy or we completely ignore it. Moms, me included need daily reminders to be looking for the good, practicing gratitude and feeling worthy enough to have a joyful motherhood.

The JOY of motherhood is not meant for “other moms”. It’s meant for you. YOU deserve joy.

So no matter how many times you ignore it, I am going to ROAR this message at you until you believe it.
